People Pictures produced `99` has earned gross 12.62 crore in two weeks at the Box Office and has become the first Bollywood hit of this summer.
The film is running steady in its third weekend and has gone on to earn Gross Box Office of 2.52 Cr. The total Gross Box Office so far amounts to 15.14 Cr. in 17 days.
The film was released on May 15, with 4-star reviews and fantastic audience reactions. Strong word-of-mouth backed by complimentary marketing has led to sustained collections right through the third weekend of its release. The fall in collections from the film`s second weekend to the third weekend has been only 15%, which is a very strong indication about how the film will fare in the coming weeks.
Speaking about the films performance producers Anupam Mittal & Aditya Shastri stated, "We are extremely happy that the film has been accepted by audiences. The way 99 has been faring at the box office makes us firmly believe that success lies in People Pictures` conviction, that good stories told well will always work."
The film was made in a production budget of 8 crores, which is fast emerging as one of the biggest hits so far this year.
99 is a story inspired by real events 1999 and 2000. It is as much `what could have been` as it is `what really happened`. It spans a few genres, it is slick, fast-paced, realistic and, importantly, very funny.
