Mahindra & Mahindra have introduced a Special Edition of its hugely popular, Scorpio SUV in the Indian market today, which was teased last week on Mahindra's official Facebook page. Unfortunately though, the Indian automaker has not revealed the pricing of the Special Edition model yet.
However, anyone who is interested in the model can initiate contact with the company via a microsite. Only 500 units of the Scorpio Special Edition will be built and sold. So what one gets in the Special Edition Scorpio is nothing new compared to the Special Edition that was introduced in the year 2010. Only difference being that the 2010 model was limited to 1,000 units and the 2013 one to 500. On the outside, the model is seen carrying chequered flag decals on the front bumper and on to the sides. There is also chromed alloy wheels and a 'Special Edition' badge at the rear.
On the inside one gets leather wrapped steering wheel and gear knob, wooden center console with a glossy finish, upholstery in tan and beige, Dual SRS airbags and a roof mounted DVD player with a nine inch screen. Powering the new Scorpio Special Edition model is the same 2.2-litre mHawk diesel engine that is rated at 120 PS and 290 Nm and is mated to a 5-Speed manual gearbox.
It is worth noting that Mahindra & Mahindra have already started a major overhaul work on its aging Scorpio that was last updated in 2009, the spy shots of which were recently snagged in India. The 2014 Mahindra Scorpio Facelift is expected to debut in the country by the end of 2014.
