Rahul Dravid becomes most catch taker in Test cricket

Rahul Dravid becomes most catch taker in Test cricketIndian cricketer Rahul Dravid has became the Test cricketer with most catches today as he held on a Tim McIntosh edge off Zaheer Khan on the fourth day of the third and final cricket Test in Wellington.

Dravid took this 182nd catch in 134th Test at third slip during lunch session in New Zealand second innings to go past former Australian batsman Mark Waugh (181 in 128 Tests).

An excited Dravid kissed at the cherry after achieving this much awaited record and thereafter his teammates gathered around to congratulate him.

The 36-year-old Dravid, who made his Test debut in June 1996 at Lords against England, has scored 10823 runs from 134 matches at an average of 52.53 with 26 hundreds and 57 fifties.

Having snared Nasser Hussain off Javagal Srinath to open his `catch` account in his debut Test at Lord`s, Dravid is now clearly ahead of Ricky Ponting (148 in 131 Tests), Jacques Kallis (147 in 131) and Mahela Jayawardene (142 in 102) among current players.

Dravid said, "The way I was batting, I should have scored a hundred in each of the Tests."
