The Reserve Bank today said it bought government bonds worth Rs 8,790 crore, out of the scheduled Rs 10,000 crore, through open market operations (OMOs) across three securities. To ease the tight liquidity situation in the system, the RBI had announced on Tuesday that it would buy back G-secs of up to Rs 10,000 crore through the OMOs, the fourth buyback in the recent past each amounting to a similar amount.
