Longest lunar eclipse on Saturday

There will be a total lunar eclipse today which will last for 52 minutes. It will be the longest till 2018, according to the Planetary Society, India. India is considered as the best place to watch the eclipse as it will be visible from various parts of the country in different phases from the beginning till the end.

The moon entering the shadow of earth and leaving the shadow will be visible as the moon's disk will darken and later return to complete brightness. The next such eclipse will be visible in India in the year July 2018.

The eclipse will also be visible in the region covering the Indian Ocean, Pacific Ocean and the Arctic Ocean. The eclipse will begin at 5:02 pm. From 8:28 pm, the moon will slowly emerge back from the earth's shadow.

On January 31, 2018, a partial lunar eclipse will be seen before a complete lunar eclipse that will be visible in India on July 27, 2018.
