Dehradun: The Sports Authority of India is all set to build an astroturf stadium for hockey and separate sports centres for judo and boxing in Uttarakhand.
The move follows after discussions between SAI director general Desh Deepak Verma and state chief secretary Subhash Kumar on Tuesday.
During the discussion, Verma agreed to set up an astroturf stadium in the hill state to give boost to hockey.
Besides, he also agreed to set up separate sports centres for boxing and judo.
Verma also asked Kumar to send a proposal for the promotion of football, a sport which is widely popular in the state.
Kumar also urged Verma to provide all those facilities to Uttarakhand which had been given to other states especially after the conclusion of last year's Commonwealth Games.
