Glocal (global + local) is a keyword in fashion and United Nations organisation is taking a cue from it. They will announce the maiden run of the World Fashion Week on November 11 in New York at a preview dinner. This historic gathering will have leading fashion designers from across the world, representing their countries.
And the Grande dame of Indian fashion, Ritu Kumar has been selected to represent India at this forum to launch a global campaign titled 'Give your light to the world'.
Ritu said "As a designer nominated from my country, I feel privileged to show the synthesis of skills and traditions that reflects India's diversity in design. The ethos of the show mounted by the United Nations is an important milestone as it emphasises on the organic needs of the people who activate fashion. The involvement of women in the creative, manufacturing and execution of fashion garments gives the endeavour its special place in the fashion world."
