 Live in India is part of a concert series that also comprises Live in Concert (international and fusion music), Live In School (day concerts in schools and colleges), Live In Youth (younger generation music), Live In Park (morning and evening concerts in neighbourhood parks) and Live With Bickram (conversation-concerts with famous musicians anchored by Bickram Ghosh).
This series of live music concerts is a mass movement aiming to unite people by creating a greater awareness and love for music. On Sunday at 7.30 pm at ICCR, Purbayan Chatterjee will be on the Sitar and Ashis Paul on Tabla as part of Live in India. Purbayan Chatterjee learned the Sitar from his father, Parthapratim Chatterjee. His music is inspired by the sound of Pt. Nikhil Banerjee and combines the tone and richness of the Nikhil Banerjee style and a contemporary touch of his own urbane sensitivity. He is also a brilliant vocalist in his own right. His international career spans over 25 years, during which he has performed at many prestigious venues including the Queen Elizabeth Hall, London, the Sydney Opera House and the Ted Baxter Hall, Paris. Purbayan received the President of India Award for being the Best Instrumentalist of the country at the age of 15.
