"The railway hospital was in dire need of such a centre, especially for the patients who have been advised to undergo physiotherapy on a regular basis for their full recovery," she said.

Chief medical superintendent (CMS) of the hospital, Dr Madan Dubey, who superannuated from service on Monday, said that the hospital, having 162 beds, has been renovated to cater to the needs of about 14,000 railway employees and their family members. Dr Dubey said that this hospital was one of the oldest hospitals of railways. "Efforts were made during my short tenure as CMS to improve its condition. The railways has built a new doctors' cabin, renovated fully post-operative ward and provided basic facilities to outdoor patients," he said, adding efforts had been made to ensure regular supply of drugs to this hospital to fulfil the needs of railway employees and their family members.
