Jorhat: The world famous Kaziranga National Park has lost a rhino calf and an elephant at its Bagori forest range on Wednesday. Park authorities said the causes of the death of both animals are yet to be ascertained and the carcasses have sent for autopsy.
The National Park Director Surajit Dutta said an elephant died at Roti Khowa camp under Bagori forest range of the park early on Wednesday. The jumbo, which was used by the park authorities in anti-poaching and rescue operations, was kept at the camp for the last few months.
In the meantime, forest staff found the carcass of a rhino calf at Bahubeel forest camp under Bagori forest range.
