Life has come full circle for Rahul Dravid.
The Wall, who has been hailed for his skills in the longest version of the game wasn't too keen to play in the Twenty20 version when it came up first on the cricket scene. In fact, he even opted out of India's team for the first T20 World Cup in 2007, saying the format belonged more to the younger generation. He, though, did play in the Indian Premier League (IPL).
But with Gautam Gambhir certain to miss the one-off T20 match against England on Wednesday, Dravid -- willingly or unwillingly -- will have to use all his IPL experience because it's almost certain he would be making his T20 international debut at the Old Trafford.
The English tour has been a stern examination for Dravid. He has come out with flying colours in the midst of falling reputations and a crumbling team. He not only hit three centuries in the Test series, he also had to open the innings more than once as a stop-gap man. Now comes another call in the line of duty. Dravid, as always, will not be found wanting
