Chandigarh: Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal gave approval to grant Rs 1.58 crore for honouring 79 sportspersons with prestigious Maharaja Ranjit Singh Award.
A decision to this effect was taken by Mr Badal while presiding over a meeting of Maharaja Ranjit Singh Award Apex Committee in the presence of Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal here this evening.
However, as many as 79 players had been selected for their rare feat in respective sports disciplines for the last six years from 2005 to 2010 by the Maharaja Ranjit Singh award screening committee headed by him.
