Hyderabad: Microsoft is now logging into small-town India in its bid to open new windows to innovation. So this year, Microsoft will go to campuses in smaller cities like Coimbatore , Ranchi, Guwahati, Allahabad and Kanpur to scour for talent as part of its plans to ramp up its India R&D presence by hiring around 600 developers for its Hyderabad and Bangalore centres in FY12. The hiring numbers for the fiscal, which follows the July-June cycle, are expected to include an equal mix of engineering graduates and industry hires.
What's equally interesting is that for the first time, some of these fresh recruits from small-town India may get to start their careers by working in one of Microsoft's development centres outside India.
"We plan to hire around 300 engineering graduates through campus recruitments across nearly 60 colleges, which is an increase in the number of candidates and campuses we hired from last year.
Of these, nearly 50 grads will be given a choice of working in Hyderabad, US or wherever else they choose," S Somasegar, senior vice-president, developer division, Microsoft Corporation, told TOI.
Till last year, Microsoft had on its list around 40 campuses across India. Microsoft has started its campus recruitment process for the fiscal, with most of the fresh hiring expected to be wrapped up by September-October and engineering grads coming on board by June-July 2012.
