Varanasi: 'Saathi Bachpan Ke' (SBK), a USAID sponsored programme, organised a health camp in Kachchibag locality in Jaitpura on Friday.
The health camp was organised to minimise the incidence and impact of diarrhoea.
It worked with 12 slums, 30 schools and about 100 Indian systems of medicine and health practitioners in Lucknow, Kanpur and Varanasi.
"About 40% of all deaths in the world, among children under the age of five, are diarrhoea-related. Around 5, 00,000 Indian children die from diarrhoea every year, accounting for the largest number of diarrhoea deaths in the world," she said and added 88% of diarrhoea was attributed to unsafe water supply, inadequate sanitation and hygiene.
