Kakinada: A massive tree plantation program has been taken up in East and West Godavari districts.
In West Godavari district alone, plans are afoot to plant 50 lakh saplings.
However government employees have been told to plant the trees on their office premises. All primary health centres, private hospitals, government and private educational institutions, industries and other organizations are being targeted in the plantation drive.
West Godavari collector G Vanimohan said the plantation programme would be completed by August 20. She said revenue, district water management, horticulture, forest and other departments will supply the saplings and supervise the exercise. "Our aim is to make the district completely green topped," she said.
