Chandigarh: Greater Mohali Area Development Authority (GMADA) has finally earmarked and acquired 66 acres of land in Mohali district to provide water to Chandigarh from the Kajauli canal.
The land has been acquired for providing water from phases VII and VIII ' through which UT will get 40 MGD water in addition to the existing 87 MGD ' and from phases IX and X, which will be kept safe for future.
These facts came to the fore during a recent meeting, held between officials of the Chandigarh Municipal Corporation and GMADA officials in this regard. Revealing this, municipal commissioner Prerna Puri said, 'The meeting was held to expedite the works of the project to bring water from phases VII and VIII and we got a positive response from the GMADA officials in this regard.'
