Guwahati: For years together, the assembly has seen several rounds of discussion on the incompletion of Indo-Bangla border fencing.
It was finally on Thursday when the state government finally decided to invoke the discretionary powers of the house to fix responsibility on the National Buildings Construction Corporation (NBCC) and the PWD - the two agencies entrusted with the task of constructing fences - if they fail to meet their deadlines.
The Centre has sanctioned construction of border roads and fencing in two phases along the 263 km of the Indo-Bangla frontier that passes through Assam. The fencing work was supposed to have been completed in 2009.
