 Chennai: Renowned Bharathanatyam exponent Padma Subrahmanyam was on Sunday conferred the Yagnaraman Lifetime Achievement Award instituted by Sri Krishna Gana Sabha.
In her acceptance speech, Ms.Subrahmanyam recalled how she had worn actor Padmini's salangai for her arangetram as her father had insisted that she should only wear a pair that had been worn by some one else.
Ghatam Vidwan S.Karthick and Bharathanatyam exponent Zakir Hussain were presented the Yagnaraman Awards of Excellence. Dancer Shobana and Cleveland V.V.Sundaram offered felicitations to the award winners. President of the Sabha, Nalli Kuppuswamy Chetti and its secretary Y.Prabhu also spoke.
