Kanpur: With a view to encourage power consumers to clear their dues, the Kesco has introduced a 'one time settlement (OTS) scheme'.
The OTS scheme would enable the consumers to pay their bills conveniently.
The consumers who have long pending dues would have to register themselves under the OTS scheme for availing the facility.
The consumers would be given a rebate on the surcharge levied on their bills. The registration could be done under the OTS scheme by filling up a form and depositing a sum of Rs 1,000. Afer this that the Kesco would prepare a fresh electricity bill after reducing the surcharge. This final amount would be required to be paid by the consumers who, according to the Kesco, are defaulters.
The OTS scheme would remain operational till August 31.
