Goa government launches scheme for unemployed in the state

Panaji: In order to provide financial assistance to the unemployed in Goa, the government has tentatively framed the "Goa Unemployment Subsistence Allowance scheme".

This is in line with the chief minister's assurance in his last Budget speech.

On this occasion the labour and employment secretary, D C Sahoo, told that his department has already prepared a tentative scheme. He said that the government has allocated 50 crore for the scheme. Under the scheme, unemployed graduates in Goa will get 1,200 per month while non-graduates will get 800 per month.

However only those between the age group of 25 and 40 years will be eligible for the scheme. Also, eligible persons must have their names on the employment live register for at least 3 years and 15 years domicile in Goa. Students are not eligible for the scheme.
