Surat: Surat Charity Fund has raised a corpus of over Rs 1 crore to provide almost free dialysis to needy patients.
The Sheth PT Surat General Hospital, which is run by Surat Charity Fund, state`s oldest trust, will charge just Rs 300 per dialysis from the patients. The trust plans to make this facility free of cost in the coming days by adding another Rs 1 crore to the corpus.
Dr AT Desai, 82, president of the hospital, said, "In the next six months, we plan to make this facility free of cost. Many donors have approached us and we will accept their help for the good of the society."
The hospital trust charged Rs 600 per dialysis till a few years ago and it was reduced to Rs 300 from June 8 onwards.
