Thane: On June 1 Marathi Garntha Sangrahalaya celebrated its 118th anniversary by organising a Kavi-sammelan (poet's meet) in the presence of a big crowd of readers and well wishers.
The participant poets of this event were Mahesh Keluskar, Bal Nandgaonkar, Nitin Kelkar, Nikita Bhagwat and Sangeeta Arbuje. Well known poet Arun Mhatre anchored the poet-meet. He charmed the audience by narrating interesting memories of reputed poets, quoted their exclusive poems and also presented some of his selected lyrics. On this platform poets used different concepts and forms for their poems. Some poems were sarcastic, some were dedicated to nature and some expressed poet's sensitive experiences of life'.
Nikita Bhagwat's poem 'Purjanma' was based on the experience of a young mother. Kandalkar's Dhur oknari chimani, Arbune's Dusryachich bayako bari, Nandgaonkar's Ase kase jhale, Nitin Kelkar's Amchya Nashibi phakta vaishkh and Mithit gheun akhkhi Mumbai ti Dhavat geli pudhe were appreciated by the audience. Bhagwat won accolades when she sang her rain song Themb tapora.
