Rajkot: Ghata Vasavada, a class X student of S G Dholakia High School in the city, has been selected by National Bal Bhavan to represent India in an arts festival in Mongolia.
She has been selected for Arts Festival of Children of Mongol Ethnicity to be held between July 2 and July 12 at Ulaanbaater. She is among the 10 children selected by National Bal Bhavan from across the country to participate in the festival.
Ghata is learning Kathak and wants to be a classical dancer. "Ghata was selected for her creative performance. She will be in Delhi on June 23 for a preparatory camp at National Bal Bhavan. She will participate in one group performance and present one solo performance at the festival,'' said Rakshit Vasavada, Ghata's father.
Ghata was the winner of the prestigious Bal Shree Award in 2008 in creative performance category. National Bal Bhavan has instituted a system of honouring talented children in different age groups through the Bal Shree scheme. The award recognises talented children in the field of creative performance, creative arts, creative writing and creative scientific innovation.
