Shimla: The central government has granted environmental clearance to the 130 MW Kashang hydro power project in Himachal Pradesh.
This Asian Development Bank-funded project is to be set up in Kinnaur district.
However the ministry of environment and forests has approved the diversion of 17 hectares of forest land for the construction of the hydroelectric project being executed by Himachal Pradesh Power Corporation Limited (HPPCL), the statement quoting Chief Minister Prem Kumar Dhumal said.
