 Margaon: After Ivan Furtado's triumph in the U-12 Asian Youth chess championship in Philippines, Bhakti Kulkarni has become the first girl from the coastal state to win the Women's Grandmaster title.
Bhakti became a WGM after she accounted for International Woman Master Renata Gazik of Poland at the Orlova Women Grandmasters tournament in the Czech Republic yesterday.
The chess champion will now head to Sri Lanka to participate in the Asian Junior Girls Championship in Colombo.
