Bhubaneswar: Ahead of a cabinet reshuffle slated for today in Orissa, two ministers resigned from the council of ministers after being asked by Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik to do so.
The ministers who resigned to facilitate the ministry reshuffle are Damodar Rout (agriculture) and Prabin Chandra Bhanj Deo (sports and youth affairs).
"I was asked to resign as minister and accordingly I sent my resignation letter to the chief minister," Routh said.
Bhanj Deo said "I have already sent my resignation letter as soon as the chief minister asked me to do so".
While Rout said he was not aware about the reason for the CM asking him to resign, Bhanj Deo attributed it to the "prerogative of the chief minister."
