Surat: A year after Nagar Prathmik Shikshan Samiti run by the civic body staked a claim for creating a world record of naming 270 schools at a one go, Limca Book of World Records has accepted it and notified it in its 2011 issue.
However, Guinness Book of World Records has communicated that they don`t have a category for such a feat but are in the process of creating one.
Rupin Pacchigar, chairman of the samiti that has more than 270 schools in the city imparting education to more than 1.35 lakh children in seven different languages, said, "On May 30, 2010, we created this record and named all the schools which were known previously by the number. We researched history from 15 to 21 century and came up with sufficient material on poets, writers, freedom fighters, historians, political figures, etc. It was a satisfying experience as we were able to give an identity to a school after 85 years, which no one did for a long time."
