Shimla: The Mayor of Shimla Municipal Corporation Madhu Sood submitted her resignation to HPCC chief Kaul Singh Thakur.
Madhu Sood, who invited the ire of senior party leaders after attacking SMC Commissioner A N Sharma and demanding his recall, was initially reluctant to resign but finally quit the post, saying she did it in the interest of the party.
However the Congress party had made construction of apartment by BDIC in the green area a major political issue and demanded registration of an FIR and handing over the enquiry to CBI but the mayor gave clean chit.
