Patna: Aryabhat Knowledge University (AKU), the newly set up technical university of the state, got its statutes approved by the state government on Thursday.
Draft statutes governing its executive business, duly approved by the university court, were submitted to the HRD department more than two months back for its approval.
AKU vice-chancellor S N Guha said that with the university getting its statutes, the process of affiliation of existing medical and engineering colleges in the state with this university would start soon. All the technical institutions would have to get themselves delinked from their parent universities and affiliated to AKU.
The statutes would also pave the way for appointment on key posts urgently required for the university's smooth functioning. As affiliation of existing medical and engineering colleges in the state and the conduct of their examinations are supposed to be the primary task of the university, the posts of examination controller and other officers would be filled up soon. The university has already got its registrar and finance officer besides three officers on special duty to manage the affairs smoothly.
