Gurgaon: The general hospital in Gurgaon has been equipped with an intensive care unit (ICU), making it the first government hospital in Haryana to get the facility.
A spokesman of health department said that with the setting up of the ICU, a long pending demand of the people of the cyber city has been fulfilled.
However, the ICU has started functioning on the first floor of the hospital and it has facilities of artificial respirator, ventilator and a cardiac monitor.
Initially, six beds have been placed in the ICU. Three patients are already undergoing treatment at the unit. Out of these, one patient was bitten by a snake and he remained unconscious for five days.
Four doctors, four nurses and three specialists have been deputed at the ICU.
