Guwahati: A Bihu dance training camp was recently held to promote and preserve the traditions of Assam.
Not only Assamese, but youth from Bihar, Bengal, Nagaland and Manipur were among the 600 odd strong crowds that came to Silpigram to learn the Bihu dance.
Organised by the Ministry of External Affairs in association with the Indian Council For Cultural Relations, Northeast Zone Cultural and the Assam Sanskrit Mancha, the ten-day workshop dealt with the intricacies of the traditional Bihu dance.
The main focus was not on promoting the Bihu festival but also on teaching the young generation the right way to perform the dance.
