Patiala: The athletics season begins with the first leg of the Indian Grand Prix on Tuesday with a host of the country's top athletes set to be in action with the World Championships and 2012 London Olympics berths up for grabs.
Most of the campers at the National Institute of Sports here are set to take part in the first of the two-leg Indian Grand Prix series, though a few have opted out due to injury-related issues.
The meet will have 16 disciplines, eight each in men's and women's sections.
Track events comprise of 100m, 400m, 800m, and 110m Hurdles in both men's and women's sections while the field events would be made up of high jump, long jump, triple jump and discus throw.
Other track and field events will be held in the second leg of the series at the same venue on May 7.
