Gurgaon: The forest department of Gurgaon is all set to conserve water and is planning a project for the water shortage in the state.
Under this project, the officials will construct water harvesting dams, restore and check old dams and check the status of staggered contour trench and continuous contour trench in the entire Aravali range. The project costing about Rs 50 crores is in the pipeline. About Rs 35 crores will be used for soil and moisture conservation works including plantation and Rs 15 crores will go in to construction and restoration of village ponds.
However the entire purpose is to increase the absorption of the rainwater into the soil that would increase the ground water reserve.
