Jaipur: Even as parts of the world, and specially Japan, are being rattled by quake after quake, the huge scare of our planet's existence looms large amid ruins.
Of the 1,500 entries shortlisted for final review, Subham Sharma Class X student of St Xavier's School, Jaipur won the second prize in the 9th & 10th grade category, results of which were announced on Friday. For the second consecutive year, he brought laurels to the country by winning an international competition organised by NASA.
To survive in space, gravity is a must; he suggested ways to generate gravity by using centripetal and centrifugal forces to rotate on its own axis, which was widely appreciated by jury members.
His model can support a population of 11,480. For growing food in space, he suggested aeroponics method as a best way to cultivate crops.
