Gurgaon: Six innovative projects shortlisted by the National Innovation Foundation (NIF) recently launched at MDI, Gurgaon.
Students from some of the country's prominent B-schools took it upon themselves to ensure that the products are well marketed and distributed.
The products include rubber tapping knife, bicycle sprayer, multiple physiotherapy devices, animated T-shirts, improved rat trap, and travel bag with seat. Students from prestigious business schools like IIMs, XLRI and MDI, took up the onus of charting out marketing and distribution plans for the products.
However, most of the products have not been patented by the innovators as they lack awareness about the importance of patenting.
The manufacturing cost is estimated to be around Rs 15 lakh, and the pilot markets for the product are rural Maharashtra and Gujarat. Chacko Sebastian, an electrician from Kerala and a rubber tapper by lineage, created the gauge knife for efficient rubber tapping.
