Shillong: Cabinet Tuesday has given approval for a voluntary code of conduct for all stakeholders in Meghalaya.
The code seeks to provide guidelines so that tourists don't get exploited, Tourism Minister M. Ampareen Lyngdoh told reporters.
In the last one year, Meghalaya attracted over 500,000 international and domestic tourists.
The code is also meant to enhance prevention of activities like forced or involuntary drugs use, manipulated and incorrect information, and cultural and social intolerance which could lead to crime.
