 Raipur: The Chhattisgarh government has taken the decision to create an elephant corridor spreading over 1,200 sq km area in the northern region of the state.
The Forest Department has earmarked 1,200 sq km forested area belonging to Badalkhol Sanctuary in Jashpur.
Semarsot and Tamorpingla Sanctuaries in Surguja districts.
However the government paid Rs 6.5 crore as compensation to the families of the victims, who suffered casualty and loss of property and crop because of the elephant menace.
