Bangalore: Nissan Motor India Pvt Ltd. announced on Thursday, November 25 that it would launch the diesel variant of the Micra, its compact hatchback, on December 10.
Kiminobu Tokuyama, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Nissan India, said the company would be launching its new sedan "in the second half of 2011." The car would be unveiled at the International Automobile exhibition in Guangzhou, China, in December.
He said the Nissan diesel version of the Micra, which is being manufactured at Nissan India's plant near Chennai, will be exported to South Africa from next year. The diesel version of the Micra, which sports the K9K 1.5 litre Common Rail Direct Injection engine manufactured by Renault, is being introduced for the first time in India.
The car, in two variants and in six colours, is positioned in the B+ segment, and priced between Rs. 5.6 lakhs and Rs. 6.2 lakhs though the final price will be determined on a date closer to the launch-date.
