New Delhi: It was touted to be the car for the lower income class but it seems Nano, a Tata Motors product, will soon lose the tag. Tata Motors on Friday, 29th October, said it had decided to increase the prices of its small car Nano by about Rs.9, 000, effective from November 1to neutralise the steep rise in input costs.
The average increase in the price of a base model Nano, which was to be a Rs.1 lakh wonder but costs about Rs 1.34 lakh for the base model. The price now will be raised by about Rs. 9,000, a rise of roughly about 6.70 per cent on the base price. However, with additional costs like RTO, insurance, and octroi the price on the road will increase proportionately.
Interestingly this is the second time that the company has revised the price after its high profile launch. About three months ago it had increased the prices of Nano by about 4 per cent.
