Airtel will be now providing direct-to-home (DTH) satellite TV service in the country as the company has launched Airtel digital TV recently.
Airtel would offer three different offers for the North and southern part of India. The price for the northern region would start from Rs. 2,499 and for the South it would be available for Rs. 1,499. The company would provide over 175 channels through three different packages.
It can be purchased from 21,000 retail points and Airtel relationship centers in 62 cities. The monthly price for the DTH service would start from Rs. 125 to Rs. 424 as per the number of channels.
Manoj Kohli, the Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director of Airtel, said that the company would provide special package to its 80-lakh mobile, broadband and other customers. The DTH service would be provided through latest digital technology for unique digital home entertainment experience.
Mr. Kohli expects that the company would attain top position in the home service segment through its `three screens` strategy.
The company would offer universal remote for set-top box (STB) for signal reception from TV and antenna. STB is also provided with memory, exclusive interactive applications, onscreen games and more efficient battery. High picture quality would be provided through the MPEG4 standard with DVB S2 technology.
