Varanasi : The power crisis in southern parts of the city got worse on Aug 29 after some more transformers developed snags.
Snags in transformers of Kundanpur feeder, attached to the 132-kv Bhikaripur power sub-station, hampered the power supply in Paharipatti and Jalalipatti areas on the outskirts of the city.
Some faults in the 10-mva transformer near Chittupur affected the power supply in the southern parts, especially in Bhagwanpur, Daphi and Sarai Dangari areas.
Bechan Rai, superintending engineer, circle I (PVVNL office), said that efforts are being made to replace the damaged transformers. He added that normal power supply would be resumed within 24 hours. He also said that the additional and rotational rostering is being witnessed in some areas.
All the 12 trolley transformers in two circles in the city are already engaged to maintain power supply in the affected regions. Meanwhile, the power supply improved on Sunday in Sigra, Cantonment, Gadaulia, Chowk and Maidagin areas in the city.
