UTVs journey from Shanti to Emotional Atyachaar

It's been one eventful journey for UTV from its Shanti days to the current Emotional Atyachaar times! With their new show Rakt Sambandh and the soon-to-go-on air Rakhi Ka Insaaf and another one, which is a remake of the regional show Kolangal, the production house will be clocking around 28 hours of content in production every week i.e. 1,456 hours in a year making it a leading player in the business.

In 1994, UTV launched their afternoon show Shanti that introduced Indian audiences to the concept of daily soaps. Their game reality show Saanp Seedhi, chat show Chakravyuh and the kids show Shakalaka Boom Boom were also first of their kind.

Past few years, the company has churned out some interesting shows in various genres including comedy, drama, thriller and mythology, like Dance India Dance, Boogie Woogie, Ek Se Badhkar Ek, Chota Packet Bada Dhamaka, Ek Khiladi Ek Haseena and the recent Emotional Atyachaar. Simultaneously, they have strengthened their presence in the regional space. They began by producing South shows like Rakta Sambandham, Ratha Saptami, Prerna and Veera Marthandwarma in the fiction genre and Deala No Deala in the non-fiction genre, all of which are doing well. They will soon be launching Spell Champ, a fun kids spelling show.

Santosh Nair, CEO, UTV TV Content says, "We have always believed in producing cutting edge content and that has been our differentiator since day one. Today our programming is aired across 20 countries in seven languages in over 27 channels that place us in the top slot." After South, UTV explored the Marathi space and has recently launched Maaylek, besides their serials like Prajakta and the award-winning Anamika.

Indrajit Ray, chief creative officer, says, "It's heartening to see the position that we have been able to create in the market today. We clearly believe it is our agility to adapt to rapidly evolving customer preferences that has helped us create fictional and non-fictional television properties across genres for families and youth alike that have become household names."
