Mumbai : The Indian food processing industry is poised for a rapid growth. The Indian food sector, at present is estimated to be worth over $200 billion and is expected to grow to $310 billion by 2015, which also contributes to a major part of the retail basket. The $6.1 billion food retail sector is also growing at a hefty 9%.
To represent this mammoth industry with plethora of opportunities, the Confederation of Indian Industries (CII), mouthpiece of India's industry, has organised the third edition of Food & Bev Tech 2010. The event will take place on October 29-31, 2010, at Bombay Exhibition Centre, Goregaon in Mumbai.
The event will be attended by CEOs and top executives from the food and beverage industry. Participation by senior executives from production, quality control, maintenance, professionals, supply chain distributors, food and beverage consultants and top officials from regulatory agencies of central and state governments is also confirmed.
The organisers claim that the Food & Bev Tech 2010 has shaped up extremely well and received overwhelming response from the leading national companies.
Highlights of Food & Bev Tech 2010 are:
1. Exhibition will witness a huge gathering of over 105 exhibitors from India and Abroad.
2. Innovative Product Pavilion will highlight the product innovation & latest manufacturing trends developed by companies for the food & beverage processing industry.
3. Over 5000 business professionals will visit the event.
With this tradeshow, the CII's vision is to position India as a major global player in the processed food sector. This sector is anticipated to create 15 million jobs. Few areas like dairy and sugar in the food and beverage sector have witnessed tremendous progress and the country has escalated to leadership position by exploring its potential.
"The second Food & Bev Tech in 2008 event was a success even during the time of slowdown fears. The efforts of CII on promoting the food processing industry are commendable. CII should also organise technical seminars in different cities to introduce various relevant technologies to Indian food processors. This industry has a huge potential to grow if right technologies are adopted," Ajit Y Brahma, area manager - South Asia, John Bean Technologies Hong Kong Ltd said.
