Ahmedabad : Mudra Institute of Communications, Ahmedabad, (MICA) inaugurated the first batch of its fellow programme (FPM) on Aug 30 at the MICA campus. Professor Luiz Moutinho, foundation chair of marketing, department of management, University of Glasgow, UK, inaugurated the programme.
Prof Ashok Ranchhod, director of MICA, said on the occasion that the industry is going to be benefactor of the research undertaken by the students of the FPM Programme
"We at MICA are in the business of imparting education and so teaching is our primary task. But, this apart, MICA has always strived to encourage research both fundamental and applied research be it among its faculty or its students. Because, we believe that research is the fulcrum which moves the lever of teaching," he said.
The first of its kind programme in the country, the FPM is an AICTE approved doctoral programme in the communication discipline, said MICA officials. The three year residential programme is aimed at middle-level communication professionals and scholars. The fellows will undertake research in the fields of marketing communication, communication and social change, communication and cultural studies and new media and communication.
