Kolkata : Indefinite cease work by medicos continued for the second day on Aug 31 affecting services in two major state-run hospitals, Calcutta Medical College and SSKM, alleging inadequate security on the campuses.
The situation, however, improved a little with the senior doctors becoming more active to restore services in both the hospitals responding to patients and their attendants' demands.
"No untoward incident was reported in either of the hospitals and work is progressing well with the help of senior doctors," a police officer claimed.
Except emergency blocks, hospital services were seriously affected with nearly 100 junior doctors staying away from duty hours after a medico was assaulted allegedly by relatives of a patient in the Curzon ward of SSKM on Aug 30.
