Belgaum : Information Technology department secretary M N Vidyashankar said KarnatakaOne, a project to provide various services to citizens under one roof, has begun operations in nine cities of the state.
Speaking at the inaugural of the project here on Aug 25, he said the project has been initiated in Bangalore, Shimoga, Mysore, Gulbarga, Tumkur, Mangalore, Bellary, Davanagere, and Hubli-Dharwad. The department has plans to take the project to gram panchayat levels too, he added.
Services like paying electricity, water, telephone and cellphone bills, property tax, LIC premium, issuing birth and death certificates, railway ticket reservation, KSRTC and private bus booking, renewal of monthly bus pass, registration for new passport, LPG booking, movie ticket booking and other services are done at KarnatakaOne centres, he said, and added that people can make payments using cash, cheque, demand draft, credit or debit cards.
In Belgaum, four centres have been opened: opposite ESI Hospital in Ashok Nagar, old corporation office building at Risaldar Galli, BUDA shopping complex at TV centre, and Goaves. People can now only pay electricity and cellphone bills between 8am to 8pm. Other services will soon be offered.
