Kanpur : In a bid to promote reading habits among children, the district administration here has ordered the government-run schools to establish a small library in them.
In cooperation with the National Book Trust of India, a mobile bus with story and other books for kids has been started, which would tour various schools, enabling the children to read their favourite books and buy them at subsidised rates.
"Now-a-days the kids do not read books and are glued to TV sets to watch cartoons. The only time they spend reading is on their course books. In order to divert their interest towards books, this campaign has been started," Kanpur District Magistrate Mukesh Sharma said.
