Panaji : From the 1950 edition of a leading newspaper covering first Indian general elections to Miniva tribesmen of Madhya Pradesh voting in 1967, the history of world's biggest democracy -- India is frozen in timeless frames here at an exhibit.
Election Commission of India's photo exhibition to commemorate its diamond Jubilee went underway in Goa on Aug 30 in presence of Chief Election Commissioner Shahbuddin Yaqoob Quraishi.
Many photo images clicked during black and white era of photo journalism depicts the history of the election process which has changed over time, from ballot boxes to electronic voting machines.
"This is 13th such state exhibition as a part of diamond jubilee celebration," Election Commissioner of India V S Sampath told reporters. He said the Commission would cover all the states by the end of 2010.
