Canon has introduced new digital SLR camera EOS 60D that will succeed the existing EOS 50D. Shining with an 18 megapixel image sensor, Canon EOS 60D promises full HD 1080p video recording (H.264) and swivel screen 3-inch LCD Display. With support for processing RAW images right in the camera itself, this new DSLR will arrive by the end of next month.
The EOS 60D has an APS-C image sensor along with DIGIC 4 Image Processor. The 18 megapixel Image Sensor helps in gaining higher levels of detail and 1.6 times magnification of the lens' focal length for capturing images in a number of aspect ratios. The Digic 4 Image Processor can process four-channel output that enables high-speed 5 frames per second shooting in bursts of 58 full-resolution JPEG images. Better quality images can be shot in low light conditions too due to the ISO sensitivity range expandable to 12800.
Professional photographers can make the best of the in-camera RAW image processing and effects filters. A major upgrade comes with the 63-point new metering system and viewfinder which provides 96 percent coverage. New 3-inch vari-angle Clear View LCD offers bright and clear view of the images shot. The images shot can be resized on the spot. This new DSLR also features improved nine-point autofocus system and built-in wireless flash controller. Scenes modes are less rigid and allow making adjustments to a certain parameters.
This EOS 60D DSLR is compatible with SD/SDHC/SDXC memory cards and one can use Canon EF and EF-S lenses. Canon will make EOS 60D body only available for the same price as the current EOS 50D (body only) - $1099 (Rs. 51,500 approx.). With 18-135mm f3.5-5.6 kit, the EOS 60D will cost $1399 (Rs. 65,550 approx.).
