 Silicon processors and graphics maker AMD has decided to shed the ATI brand name from its line of graphics products, according to a report. Now, all those PC gamers and graphics enthusiasts who've been scratching their heads over different lineups from same graphics company need not worry. AMD will rebrand its consumer graphics products as Radeon and professional graphics products as FirePro. Seriously, don't know what's got into AMD.
AMD acquired graphics product maker ATI for $5.4 billion back in 2006. Internally, ATI, which was known as a part of AMD Graphics Product Group, continued to churn out products with ATI Radeon and ATI FirePro brands. Also, AMD introduced its big plans to launch Fusion line of products - merging CPU with GPU to make an APU.
